Pantani was an Italian road racing cyclist, from Romagna, and he is widely considered as the best “climbers” of all time. His nickname was “Il Pirata” (The Pirate), because of his famous bandana and he is well known for being the winner of Tour de France, Tour de Suisse, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Murcia. He died tragically in a hotel room due to a drug abuse, after being sentenced for doping.
